TDK Corporation has introduced a new series of EPCOS current-compensated toroidal power line double chokes. The RoHS compliant B82724J8 * N040 series has a high rated voltage of 800VDC or 250VAC under constant operation and is specially produced for use as a DC link choke for frequency converters. Another advantage of the new series is that it has excellent thermal performance compared to conventional types, which means that chokes with high inductance values ??can operate at high currents even at higher operating temperatures. The new chokes provide inductance values ??ranging from 0.5mH to 47mH and rated currents between 1.6A and 10A, depending on the inductance. Its non-derating rated ambient temperature is + 70C. To further reduce symmetrical interference, the stray inductance provided by the power line chokes is approximately 0.5% of the rated value. As with the standard B82724J * series, all types measure 18.5mm x 31.3mm x 33.2mm. This means that new chokes can be built into existing layouts. The new toroidal core choke is made of flame retardant plastic that complies with UL 94 V-0 and is certified to IEC 60335-1 Article 30 (Glow Wire and Ball Pressure Test). In addition, the windings are completely potted, so they can be used in heavily polluted environments. Typical applications include inverters and power supplies.
